About Little Smart Planet

It started as a platform of pedagogic mobile games and now has also a series of educational videos aimed at preschoolers (1 to 5 year olds). The show helps children learn or review basic concepts in English like colors, numbers, the alphabet, food or animals, as well as how to write or pronounce the words.

The catchy songs entertain kids while helping them to memorize and cement knowledge. That is why so many non-English speaking kids watch this series to practice their language skills. In fact, Little Smart Planet’s episodes provide an engaging way for the little ones to learn vocabulary and expressions in English.

#EuropeansAgainstCovid19 – Magikbee’s Contribution to a European Cause

#EuropeansAgainstCovid19 Campaign by European Parliament

The coronavirus has transformed the way we live. Hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost and much of the world, including most of Europe, has been locked down. Things only starting to ease up in recent weeks.

Even in difficult times such as these, there are positive stories to tell. Europeans have come together to help one another fight the virus, protect health services, and take care of the vulnerable. The European Union has mobilised over €3 trillion to that end.

#EuropeansAgainstCovid19

Is a campaign spreading positive stories of European solidarity and resistance against the virus.

We at Magikbee were absolutely delighted to be invited to join the campaign. We were asked to join after our latest app, Virus Fight Club, came to the attention of EU officials.

The game, available across all smartphones and tablets, aims to spread positive messaging on how to limit contagion of the coronavirus. In Virus Fight Club, the player must traverse global cities distributing masks and practising social distancing.

Magikbee was one of many varied initiatives that make up the #EuropeansAgainstCovid19 campaign, which you can read up about here.

As part of the program, our CEO, Hugo Ribeiro, featured this week on a Zoom conference hosted by the European Parliament. The participants included MEP Pedro Silva Perreira and Giedrė Eiliakas, the owner of a restaurant chain that is using its sites to cook for hospital workers. You can hear then different perspectives of the participants by watching the conference here.

All things considered, we are extremely proud to have the change to use our skills as educators and developers to make a difference. We will keep striving to be a force for good!

Bett 2020: Taking our Safe Video App to Educators

In the final week of January, just two weeks ago, the Magikbee team attended Bett 2020 in London. We did so to introduce the global education community to our safe video streaming platform, kiddZtube.

Bett is an education technology conference. It is one of the biggest of its kind in the world, with 850 companies, over 100 startups, and 34,000 people attending the show. Bett takes place at the ExCel centre in East London.

At the show, we met teachers, school leaders, parents, and business folk – all of whom gave us positive feedback. Our messaging around combining safety and education with fun resonated deeply with the Bett audience.

Up to now, our clients have principally been parents at home, and we’ve seen great growth in the past year. We are delighted also to have launched kiddZtube on Amazon Fire TV as well as Android TV, enabling families to enjoy watching safe videos on their television.

At Bett, we confirmed that there is strong demand for kiddZtube in schools. We had been aware of the value the platform could bring to educators, but we were surprised by just how many wanted to see kiddZtube in their schools!

Educational Videos for Kids | Safe YouTube | Educational app | kiddZtube

kiddZtube is a collection of thousands of safe, educational videos, hand-picked by real-life teachers. Each video contains pop-up quiz questions that cover spelling, counting, colours, and other important core skills.

kiddZtube is a perfect extracurricular activity for schools. One example of how the app can be used is in after school clubs, where often there are many children that need to be entertained, yet relatively few adults supervising.

With kiddZtube, teachers can keep kids busy and know they aren’t at risk of encountering inappropriate content. Answering the quiz questions in teams is lots of fun, too. In break or recess is another great opportunity for kids to have fun and learn with kiddZtube.

Having met loads of teachers and senior school staff members at Bett, we are excited to push ahead with getting kiddZtube into schools.

Feedback is crucial, particularly to products that are aiming to educate. At Magikbee, we are constantly engaging with customers as we try to improve kiddZtube and understand its strengths and potential weaknesses.

At Bett, we were exposed to a different type of feedback: we were challenged by educators who do not know us and are willing to question our very purpose. This was a healthy exercise that requires us to have a deep understanding of our product. We rose to the challenge and had robust responses to almost every query that came our way. But it serves as a reminder not to rest on our laurels, to challenge our own thinking, and to always continue to iterate and improve.

Overall, Bett 2020 was a very positive experience and we are very grateful to have had the opportunity to exhibit at the show.

Join Our Online Safety Community – Where Parents Contribute to Our Preschool App, kiddZtube

Our Approach to Online Safety

At Magikbee, kids’ online safety is our priority. We’re a group of parents, so we understand the dangers that kids face on the internet.

A few years ago, we became really concerned with the type of videos that kids were coming across on popular platforms. That’s why we created kiddZtube, our safe and educational video app for preschoolers, where all of the content is handpicked by real teachers. This means the app is 100% safe.

kiddZtube, our popular preschool app.

The human touch of our group of teachers has helped kiddZtube become one of the top preschool apps worldwide.

Now, we want to further improve the app by actively involving you, the parents, in our ambitions.

Introducing kiddZtube Community

So today, we are delighted to announce the launch of the kiddZtube Community – where parents can share video suggestions for the app, recommend safe YouTube channels, and share tips about keeping their kids safe online more generally.

We will review every suggestion that you make, and if our teachers believe it is a good fit for kiddZtube, we’ll upload it!

We think this initiative will provide real value for you, the parents, and your children. Imagine, for example, that you know of a particular YouTube channel that your kid loves – but you’re concerned about giving her free reign on that platform. That’s where the kiddZtube Community comes in.

Just head over to the forum, share the link to the channel, and we’ll review as soon as we can. If our educators believe it is appropriate for the app, and decide to upload your suggestion, we’ll be sure to let you know!

So join us today in the kiddZtube Community!
