Bett 2020: Taking our Safe Video App to Educators

In the final week of January, just two weeks ago, the Magikbee team attended Bett 2020 in London. We did so to introduce the global education community to our safe video streaming platform, kiddZtube.

Bett is an education technology conference. It is one of the biggest of its kind in the world, with 850 companies, over 100 startups, and 34,000 people attending the show. Bett takes place at the ExCel centre in East London.

At the show, we met teachers, school leaders, parents, and business folk – all of whom gave us positive feedback. Our messaging around combining safety and education with fun resonated deeply with the Bett audience.

Up to now, our clients have principally been parents at home, and we’ve seen great growth in the past year. We are delighted also to have launched kiddZtube on Amazon Fire TV as well as Android TV, enabling families to enjoy watching safe videos on their television.

At Bett, we confirmed that there is strong demand for kiddZtube in schools. We had been aware of the value the platform could bring to educators, but we were surprised by just how many wanted to see kiddZtube in their schools!

kiddZtube is a collection of thousands of safe, educational videos, hand-picked by real-life teachers. Each video contains pop-up quiz questions that cover spelling, counting, colours, and other important core skills.

kiddZtube is a perfect extracurricular activity for schools. One example of how the app can be used is in after school clubs, where often there are many children that need to be entertained, yet relatively few adults supervising.

With kiddZtube, teachers can keep kids busy and know they aren’t at risk of encountering inappropriate content. Answering the quiz questions in teams is lots of fun, too. In break or recess is another great opportunity for kids to have fun and learn with kiddZtube.

Having met loads of teachers and senior school staff members at Bett, we are excited to push ahead with getting kiddZtube into schools.

Feedback is crucial, particularly to products that are aiming to educate. At Magikbee, we are constantly engaging with customers as we try to improve kiddZtube and understand its strengths and potential weaknesses.

At Bett, we were exposed to a different type of feedback: we were challenged by educators who do not know us and are willing to question our very purpose. This was a healthy exercise that requires us to have a deep understanding of our product. We rose to the challenge and had robust responses to almost every query that came our way. But it serves as a reminder not to rest on our laurels, to challenge our own thinking, and to always continue to iterate and improve.

Overall, Bett 2020 was a very positive experience and we are very grateful to have had the opportunity to exhibit at the show.
